Benedict excused himself from the lackluster confabulation he had painfully no interest in to find out who this stranger was. He retraced the man’s footsteps to the gardens outside. He wandered briefly in the short hedges and herbage when he spotted him, sitting alone on a small black bench, gazing upwards at the night sky. Benedict knew he had to be careful in his approach. Saying the wrong thing to the wrong man could lead to scandal, societal banishment, and tarnishing his family’s reputation. It was a dangerous game to play, but now that Benedict had a taste of what could be, it was a risk he was willing to take. "

"Yeah, he supplied him with drugs, but that was it. Nam-gyu was all too aware Thanos could not give less of a shit if he lived or died. The thought tugs a bit at his heartstrings, but Nam-gyu knows the truth behind the statement no matter his feelings on it. The bastard couldn’t even remember his fucking name, for God’s sake, no matter how many times he corrected him. It just felt like a cruel joke at this point, just another way to get Nam-gyu begging for any inkling of attention Thanos was willing to spare him.
And, fuck, did it work. Nam-gyu would be an idiot to even try to deny it. Thanos had him like a dog on a leash, punished with a sharp tug on his collar and rewarded with a pat on the head, both actions just making him come back for more and more. It was desperate. Pathetic. But Nam-gyu couldn’t help himself, he wanted to be everything Thanos wanted him to be, even if that was his fucking dog. His good boy."

Nam-gyu might just be a little too desperate for Thanos's attention.

Nam-gyu's eyes shoot open and he lets out an involuntary yelp. Any ache in his body dissipates as if it were never present to begin with. Thanos is in front of him, his lips pulled back into a smile and a familiar shine in his eyes. He's pumping his fist out rhythmically to the blaring music, jerking his body around to it. Nam-gyu's heart is beating harshly in his chest and he lifts shaky hands out of his pockets to feel his pulse. His stomach doesn't hurt, his knuckles aren't bruised or covered in anyone else's blood, and most notably, Thanos is alive.

It is the early years of Jayce and Viktor's scientific partnership, and the Distinguished Innovators competition is only three days away. That is, if they can get all the work done for it in time when Jayce is exhausted, overworked, and at risk of burning out entirely before they even make it there.
So when Jayce jokingly asks Viktor to take control and tell him what to do, in the hopes that it will help Jayce relax and get some much needed sleep before the competition, he was not expecting Viktor to so readily oblige. Nor was he expecting what happened after.
