You weren’t in bed with me, there wasn’t a wedding band on my finger, and”—his eyes flicker to Mydei’s chest, a fiery blush blooming on his face—“you’re half-naked.”
“We sleep together?” Mydei asks, surprised.
Phainon deadpans.
“We’re married.”

Freezing, Phainon slowly looks down in horror. Oh Titans, so he wasn’t imagining the strange swell at the base. Just what on Amphoreus was happening to him? How was he supposed to jerk off to thoughts of Mydei now?
Gingerly, he lets go of his dick, finger by finger as if it would come to life and bite him in the face. When his hand is free, he scrambles for his teleslate he left on the nightstand and dials the only person he can trust.
“My dick blew up!” He wails as soon as the call picked up. “Like a balloon! It’s so big now!”
To his irritation, Mydei only laughs hysterically. He’s about to ask what exactly was so funny when Mydei’s next words stop him in his tracks.
“Try being me, Phainon,” Mydei hisses, all amusement gone. “My ass refuses to stop slicking! My bed is wet all over! I’m wet all over!”

The silence between them becomes stiff, and Phainon needs to occupy his hands with something, anything. “I’m in the middle of… researching something,” he says.
Mydei hums. “With the Grove?”
Phainon feels sort-of-bad-sort-of-not for obfuscating the truth: one because it’s Mydei, and the other because the matter is about him confessing to Mydei, you see. He pulls a face. “You could say that.”
Kremnoan Roses aren't real. Probably. Phainon is about ninety-nine percent sure. But after coming across an antique Kremnoan vase, Phainon swears that if he, by some miracle, manages to recreates them, he will confess to Mydei with a bouquet of mythical roses.
