Summary
Every night looped a small routine in the confines of John’s bedroom at Beecher’s Hope, almost as if it were a ritual. In a way, it was. On previous occasions of John trying to break the pattern, it always ended up in a restless sleep. He’d learned his lesson about that after he fell asleep whilst milking the cows, but nevertheless, there always was a moment of hesitation before opening the wardrobes door.

While cooking alongside Mr. Pearson after losing at a game of Five Finger Fillet against Sean, John Marston finds himself looking for an escape just to not have to put up with Pearson’s endless nagging, bickering, and critique. Gladly, he does find a way out and just so happens to stumble upon the smallest sliver of peace in the confines of Dutch Van der Linde’s camp.

Summary
Things went a lot differently in 1886. Dutch and his gang went to a higher life of crime, mingling with the rich and famous instead of stage coaches and banks. Things start to get sticky when heists keep going wrong in California and drove them all the way down to Saint Denis, of all places. Here, John Marston finds a strange painter who can't be all he seems.

Summary
1885, Illinois. A young Dutch, Hosea, and Arthur wander into a country town following a lead to swindle a wealthy homestead and break their control over the town. But while scoping it out, Arthur encounters a young John Marston, setting fate in motion that will eventually become a rocky, yet loyal brotherhood. A short multi-chapter story revolving around how Dutch, Hosea, and Arthur met John.
