Tanjirou rose back up calmly and faced him with a smile. Though now, that grin of his had an edge to it, with his eyebrows furrowed and determination alight in his deep cherry red eyes. It was an expression that drove a sharp knife of adrenaline and excitement through Inosuke. It scratched the itch that he’d always had to deal with, because even though the other Slayer wasn’t angry at him like he’d been that day they met, he’d now become just as fierce and that was just as good, if not, better.

Chiyo gently hits her husband on the chest again, blushing, criticizing him about teasing the kids between her giggles.
“Strength?! Passion?!” Inosuke asks. “How is this strength?! How does this make the fish better?!
Chiyo is laughing. “You don’t have to do it, you can just ignore my husband.”
Inosuke bristles. Tanjirou can almost read it from his body language: well, now I want to.
“How do you pick your victim?!” Inosuke demands to know.
“Victim? No no, you pick the person who was waiting for you to come home.” Momosuke says. “Someone important to you.”
(or: inosuke learns how to kiss someone.

it’s odd, really, how resignation comes to inosuke so quickly despite not understanding a thing about it—he’s going to sit here until tanjiro wakes up. whether it takes one day or one week or one month. whether it takes one year. whether it takes the rest of his goddamn life—inosuke is going to sit and watch and wait. he simply will not go on without tanjiro. not this time. not anymore.
(or: when a mission leaves tanjiro nearly dead, inosuke sits at his bedside and refuses to move until he wakes up. it takes two weeks for inosuke to understand why.)
