Rumour had it that the whole fanfare had started because or their newest, freshly underground guest. The thing was, though, that little Pawn was being crushed by guilt and the whole guest list, with Charlie in primis had tried it all to uplift his spirit. And of course dear Charlie jumped right onto the idea of not only the tradition of "secret santa", but of the whole Christmas-instead-of-Sinsmas train.

They strode across the town, headed to its outskirts. For whatever reason his mother still lived there, even if he had tried to have her move closer to the centre of the lively New Orleans. She insisted, saying she preferred to live in her old house, full of memories and with the bayou for a backyard. Alastor couldn’t say he disagreed with the sentiment, but felt she would be comfier closer to shops and whatnot available where more people lived.
It was a most important meeting they were attending, and Alastor was nervous. Not particularly concerned with punctuality per se, but it was yet another thing that was ruining the image he had for the day he wanted to be perfect, for himself and his darling belle.
For quite some time, now, Alastor wanted his mother to meet Charlie. -
