The mortification of asking such a question point-blank was at least momentarily forgotten in his amusement at Mydei literally spitting out his pomegranate juice and milk.
”What in the -“ he could tell those are some less-than-nice words in Kremnoan that Mydei grits out before switching back to the common tongue. “What are you asking?!”
”A novel disagreement at the baths caught my attention one of the days you were away,” Phainon had replied. “One of the points put forth was that one can’t be certain of their own tastes if they have never tried anything with the same sex. Don’t you think it’s something interesting to look into?”

“Deliverer.”
He turns, surprised. “Mydei.” He hadn’t heard him following him.
Still, he puts on a genial smile. “Coming up for the view too?”
“You could say that,” he says, reaching for and swiping a bottle of strawberry wine from the gift basket tucked in the crook of Phainon’s arm.
“That’s for me, you know?”
“I’ll give you my bottle later,” he says, brushing past him on the stairs and continuing to climb, popping the cork with just one hand with relative ease thanks to his clawed gauntlets.
He doesn’t turn back when he addresses Phainon again, “Are you coming or not?”or
Phainon and Mydei share a drink under the stars.

Mydei’s gaze shifts to the other woman who was part of the group that had cornered him after closing, now standing back by the window with her arms crossed, observing. “And you just managed to produce a dress in my size on such short notice? I didn’t know you were a miracle worker, Aglaea.”
The blonde woman simply hums, idly twisting a fine golden thread around her finger. “Inspiration sometimes strikes at the most unexpected of times. Before we opened for business, I thought it may be a novel concept to have men wait tables and lo and behold, my hands had begun moving before I knew it. How fortuitous that my work of a whim comes to use.”
“The men could have waited tables while still wearing men’s clothes.”
“But that would defeat the purpose of us being a maid cafe, now wouldn’t it, Mydeimos?”
That was why he was stuck in this whole predicament in the first place.
