Summary
Seungmin has been pretending to be a beta for 10 years, taking short-term suppressants after a traumatizing first heat despite the possible side effects. One day, his body gives out on him, and he's forced to stop taking them. What's worse is that the doctor is assigning him a heat partner to regulate his cycle. He's not happy about it at all, but Hyunjin is determined to break through his walls and show him that heats don't always have to be bad.

Summary
“Captain..?” Seungmin says carefully, fiddling with the sleeves of his jacket to avoid blushing furiously.
Hyunjin gives him an almost tired look that makes Seungmin quickly correct himself — for tonight, Hyunjin is his boyfriend, his “dear”, his “honey” and “love”, for tonight, Hyunjin isn’t his officer and he has to watch his words to avoid letting that slip mindlessly, purely out of habit.
“I should’ve been honest and said that a lot earlier, but I’ve actually… never kissed anyone before,” Seungmin admits with a heavy sigh.
(Alt: Usually, it doesn’t take much for people to realize that they like someone. For Seungmin, too, it only took six months of serving under Hyunjin’s command, one important mission, fake identities and several kisses before he finally realized that what he felt for Hyunjin wasn’t just admiration.)

Quite predictably, Hyunjin is still very much asleep when he comes back to their bedroom, holding a warm mug full of tea that he then sets on the nightstand with an involuntary smile that adorns his face at the sight of Hyunjin pouting in his sleep.
They’ve been married for a few years now, living together even longer and sharing one soulmate bond ever since their childhood, so there are no crazy butterflies anymore, but the infinite tenderness and warmth that fill Seungmin’s heart around Hyunjin have not changed one bit.
(Alt: Seungmin wakes up to a gust of cold wind, but instead of going back to sleep, he decides to make his favorite tea and some breakfast — only to still fall asleep on his husband’s chest an hour later.)

Seungmin flushes a bit, not looking at Hyunjin as he opens his mouth and takes a second to respond.
"I… I am open to it, but I have to say that I have no experience," he says, carefully turning to Hyunjin now.
"That's okay. Me neither." Hyunjin offers him a smile, and Seungmin softens. "I was already convinced that you were the one for me by the time I could go around and experiment."
