Summary
Sumeru was once a great city that was the hub of knowledge in Teyvat, but a curse was laid upon the city. The once flourishing city withered, its inhabitants fled to nearby settlements. Those who failed to escape, on the other hand, were cursed.
The citizens congregated in Avidya Forest and set up a new capital, in Gandharva Ville, headed by Grand Sage Azar. Navakademiya Scribe Alhaitham, found that the life in the new capital to be mundane and when a contact informed him of a place where he would be able to trace the origin of the curse, he jumped at the opportunity.
As the daughter of the desert, Flame-Mane Dehya had no concept of curses or calamities—the desert was curse enough—and when she was to meet her client for her next job, she was faced with the horror that is Sumeru City, because her client became the Cursed One, which, inadvertently prompted Dehya's determination to uncover the true story of the once great city.
While the secrets were kept behind the walls, there are other ploys at play within the Navakademiya.

Summary
"I would have thought that some of our other friends might be better able to understand you," said Dohalim. "Our upbringings were drastically different, as is our approach to life, more often than not." After all, Kisara had told him off countless times for rhapsodizing about their experiences instead of helping out. "You are all pragmatism, and I am all poetry."
"But you make the effort to understand, even when it doesn't come naturally to you," said Kisara, with unexpected passion. "That, more than anything else, is what matters. And I don't think a poetic worldview is bad at all, even if it can be a little… overwhelming for the rest of us sometimes." She glanced out the window. "You see the beauty in things I take for granted."
"And you remind me of the truth whenever I am blinded by that beauty," said Dohalim. "Our reality may be harsh at times, but ever since we left Menancia, I've found that I prefer to engage with the world as it is rather than indulging most of my idler fancies. Only the ones that I cannot possibly make a reality remain." Love, save for the love of music, had eluded him until now.
