Garrett returns from his usual short stints at mercenary work earning coin for the family to an unexpected conversation with his mother.
‘A solid, strong farm town, Lothering, with good connections to Arl Bryland. I’ll work on the Reverend Mother, of course, the sisters, so as soon as the girl knows, her mother and father know, the Chantry will be ready to act as our go-between. We’ll negotiate an effective outcome with Elder Miriam before the girl starts to show and ensure a proper marriage results. I’ve been watching, Garrett, talking. Plenty of marriages here with the firstborn coming large for such early births. It’ll be amusing, not scandalous, and amusement wins friends.’

Written for the Handers Gift Exchange 2021: Garrett Hawke came to help the Inquisition with its Corypheus problem - only it turns out that, much to the surprise of Hawke himself, he didn't come alone.
Skyhold was a wreck. Hawke wasn't sure what he'd been expecting of the miracle castle in the middle of the Frostbacks - he'd heard it had come to the Herald of Andraste during the Inquisition's hour of need in a dream, and having had a chance to look around before Varric tracked him down, he could only conclude it had been one of those strange dreams, with the stairs that changed directions and the thousands of tiny spiders with human teeth.

So Justice waits, and watches, and guards, and counsels. It is all he can do.
Until the day it is not enough, nothing he has is enough to stop what comes, and Justice watches from Kristoff’s broken and unresponsive form and cannot guard Anders from Rolan, and then he is straining, reaching, yearning for Anders with every fiber of his existence and exploding at the Injustice of the sword, and there is Fear for once in his existence,
and then there is Rage,
and then Anders looks to him, dulling eyes wide and wildly hopeful, and his form materializes without conscious thought and they are reaching for each other, and then there is a Spark and a We that thunders so loudly it flattens the copse of trees around them,
and then there is Vengeance.
