Summary
Steve only bought the ring for Bucky because the stone was the exact same colour as Bucky's eyes and, at that price, it was a bargain he couldn't pass up. He probably should have, as he later discovered, because the ring came with some undocumented features: its very own ghost pirate and its very own curse. (Technically, that probably meant the ring had still been a bargain, since he hadn't actually paid for either of those things.) Bargain or not, Steve wasn't looking forward to explaining to an extremely overprotective genie why he was suddenly being haunted by the ghost of the Dread Pirate...Bob?

“Okay.” He sighs. “Uh, well, she said that Omera’s always liked it when the guy…dips the girl? What does that even mean?”
Cara snorts. “Y’know, like when he kisses her. Leans her back. It’s all dramatic, makes good photos.”
“Huh.” Dyn scratches his neck again. “Is…that something people do in real life?”
“Mostly at weddings.” Cara shrugs. “If your goal with this is to sweep her off her feet, then I’d say kissing her in a way that she’s always thought to be really romantic is probably a safe bet.”
“Okay.” Dyn squints down at his paperwork. “But…why is that seen as romantic? Why do women like it?”
Cara throws her hands up. “You think I know? Did you forget who you’re talking to?”
“What, you’ve never kissed anyone that way?”
“No, because I’ve always been afraid I’ll drop them.” Cara shrugs.
Dyn feels his eyes widen. “Is…wait, I – what do you mean drop them? Has that happened before?”

When a little straw-haired boy shows up at his door in the middle of a January night with no coat and a black eye, the first thing George Barnes does is stick his head out into the hall and check for any pursuing assailants.
“Mister Barnes?” the boy asks, through chattering teeth. “’m Steve Rogers, Sir.”
“Yes, Steve, I’m George Barnes.” He cups the boy’s cheek and finds it cold as ice. “Come inside, bubba, you need to get warm.”
“Mister Barnes, please. Please, you gotta save my Ma!” Steve croaks, shaking as tears fall and freeze to his cheeks. “Please, he’s hurtin’ her bad.”
