The months that Hera had hidden away her son were pure torture. She knew in her heart of hearts that Percy was still alive, but he was gone as if he never existed in the first place. Sally worried she would forget where his beauty marks were or the lilting sound of his laugh. She agonized that she would forget the exact hue of his eyes and how Percy lit up when the smell of cookies wafted through the apartment. To be left bereft of a child is a pain Sally would wish on no one, and if he died now, Sally would surely follow.

Ascension is no easy task, even for the strongest demigod of the new age. Sally will keep her son alive, whether he likes it or not.

Percy loves his father. He would give him his strength, lend him his sword, and protect his back from any wayward blade it may come across. He would come at his call and swim through his halls for as long as his life on the surface allowed. Percy would do many things for him, but to accept his offer, to become immortal, is something even he will not do. Again, he will tell him no.

Apollo does not watch Percy Jackson.
He very pointedly does not observe Poseidon's Favored, or guide his rays to paint his skin in deeper hues when he's under Apollo’s sun. Apollo does not soak up the stories his children tell of Percy when he visits them at camp, nor does he steal glances of him faster than mortal eyes can perceive when they happen to visit at the same time. Apollo does not avoid Dionysus’ knowing glances or Chiron's weary sighs.
Apollo is fine.

All Apollo had to do was wait out the rest of Percy's mortal lifespan and he was home free. Unfortanately, ascension changes his plan.

The ocean might be possessive, but so is the sun. And if Poseidon was careless enough to let Perseus out of his sight, well, that wasn’t Apollo’s issue, was it?
But Apollo had witnessed Hades abducting Persephone and the aftermath. He has little desire to replicate that particular story. So, through grit teeth, he lets Percy leave when the sun drowns in the ocean, leaving the sky dark and twinkling with stars.Perseus could be sure that the next time they met, he wouldn't leave again.

Summary
Mornings were his hell on earth, Percy decided as he woke up once again in searing pain. It was weird. He would've bet his slightly enhanced demigod healing would’ve taken care of that, but it was feeling more and more like he had a really bad cold.
This was slightly suspect as Percy generally didn’t get colds at all, his father’s more godly side peaking through. Though, he supposed, a summer flu had been going around camp, nothing to worry about, though it did suck to have a constantly runny nose.
The mornings were still pretty cold for summer, and Percy shivered slightly as he made his way out of his cabin and towards the ocean.
The water felt weird around him, but he didn't get to worry about it, because his whole world turned white before he could alert anyone to his troubles.

Poseidon was often called the father of monsters and even when he loathed to admit it, the name was apt.
So when Perseus was born, Poseidon was prepared for the worst, another head, three times too many fingers, whatever it was, he would love it and try to protect it.
Imagine his surprise when somehow, Percy came out with ten fingers and ten toes, perfectly normal looking and with a powerful lung. Of course, he’d had demigod children in the past, but it didn’t happen often for him to be graced with a real child.
Who could then blame him, when he watched Perseus closely growing up, chest swollen with pride because he was perfect? Perfect like Triton, his heir, and so funny. It felt only natural to claim Perseus as his, the first opportunity he got, he was so proud to be able to present such a courageous and normal child.

The look of pity Apollo gave him confirmed Percy’s question before the God even had the chance to speak and Percy’s chest sunk.
“Yes. I know you didn’t want it but you’re one of us now.”
Percy had only just denied the very thing that had been forcefully thrusted upon him. He doesn't take it well yet the presence of the warmth of the sun, blinding smiles and golden eyes makes it a little easier to bare.
