“So… you’re not from this world?” He asked her quietly, still trying to process what she just said.
It doesn’t make sense, he knows her for almost 10 years. They worked with each other for so long, covered each other's backs on the battlefield, she helped him with his students, and now she is telling him that all those years she kept this from her family and her closest friends. He rubbed his eyes and sighed deeply. He needs coffee, right now. Maybe even something more robust. This is too much for him.
“I am.” She said tapping her index finger on a cup of tea, “I woke up here 12 years ago after Rei Todoroki committed suicide in her bedroom. Apparently, she couldn’t deal with all the pressure Endeavor gave her back then, so she saw death as the only option. At that time, in my world, I was coming home from work when a car crash happened. I died on the scene and woke up here. In your world. I still don’t understand how this is possible but I’m a living evidence that this is possible.”
He sat down next to her, “Then what is your real name?”
She smiled softly at this question and turned to look at him for the first time in their conversation, “Emily. Emily Josten.”

Summary
Dick, admittedly, doesn’t know what the rest of the team was doing because his eyes were glued on the intruder. A bulky man— tall and muscular— stood at the center of the lounge. Dick isn’t sure where exactly to begin describing him. A standard gun was in his hand, obviously the one where the bullet that almost hit Artemis came from, but it was obvious the man had more weapons on his person. He was completely covered, from the tan military style pants to the jacket that was left unzipped, to the shiny red helmet that was only the second most noticeable thing to Dick. The first: a red bat logo printed on the intruder’s chest.
Dick could not begin to question anything (Who was this man? What was he doing here? Why is a gun and the bat symbol on the same person ?) because his thoughts can and should only be of the ways to take the threat down.
