Summary
“Do you want to kiss me?” Toni asks suddenly and Jughead actually reels back at the question, nearly hitting his head on the coffee table. Toni gets on her knees and looks him right in the eye. “Jughead, do you want to kiss me?”
“No!” He says quickly and stands up, taking a step away from her. “What the hell is wrong with you? You’re my best friend, Toni!”
“Aha!” She yells and stands up too. “See! Best friends don’t want to kiss their best friends so tell me, if Betty Cooper asked you if you wanted to kiss her, what would you say? Would you react like you just did with me?”
Jughead looks at Toni like she’s lost her damn mind, and honestly maybe she has, because why else would she be here right now asking him such stupid questions?
Or: Jughead Jones is maybe, possibly, completely in love with Betty Cooper. There's just one small problem. He's the only one who doesn't know it.

Is she the only one who sees this? Is it a figment of her imagination?
She stares at the back of his neck while the graduate discusses sentence structure – the pale nape, the jut of his top vertebrae, his terrible posture. She chose a three-quarters view this time, one row over. He leans back in his seat, and her eyes graze his stomach, the thin layer of baby fat she would peel back to reveal the solid sinew beneath it.
What is the importance of varying sentence structure?
He raises his hand to answer, and she thinks his fingerbones would make the loveliest of windchimes. His broad shoulders are vaguely masculine but nothing else, yet she would sink her teeth into that hidden delicateness if she could. She wants to strip the skin from his back, spread his ribs and crawl inside. She would curl herself within his chest cavity, nestle between his lungs, hug his heart to her stomach and squeeze, feel it flutter like a bird in a cage, squeeze until it stopped.

Summary
Jughead swipes his beanie off his head and self-consciously rakes his nails through his hair. Staring down into his empty crown, he cannot help admitting, “Sometimes I do wish there were two of me.”
He yanks his beanie back on with another huff, shaking his head. “I know I can be really narrow-minded. It’s hard for me to let myself get distracted when I want to write something. I just don’t want to waste it because when writer’s block hits, it really hits,” he rambles, knowing he is making excuses for himself. “It would be perfect if I could be in two places at once sometimes. One could write and the other could be with Betty in the way she needs.”
Sabrina listens without interruption and nods, if not in agreement then at least in acknowledgment. Sensing he is finished feeling sorry for himself, she proposes, “Sounds like you need to find a happy medium.”
