True, he cried on command when it was convenient. And also true, he sometimes did shed a couple tears, silently, —and most importantly, in private— when it all got too difficult, yes. But the former were fake, and the later were so few and far between he couldn’t even recall the last time he cried in earnest.

Okkotsu Yuuta is a late bloomer. When he’s an adult, after knowing Toge for a few years, suddenly turns into an alpha. He has a hard time adjusting to the sudden surge of protectiveness he feels for the people he cares about. Particularly Toge.

Summary
The entire yard was plunged in a coldness that went beyond physical. Toge’s eyes widened and he froze up, back tensing. “Okkotsu!” The trainer shouted.
Toge turned again and pinned him with his sharpest glare. “Don’t come closer,” he snapped, before he could think about it. He paused, mouth tightening into a line. The man froze, and alongside him, so did his father. Neither of them moved.
Toge turned back to Okkotsu, who was staring at him, wide-eyed, and less exhausted. “I’m sorry,” he repeated. “I don’t know why they ordered you to do this.”
Okkotsu smiled, sheepish and tired still.
“I’m Toge,” he repeated softly.
“I’m Yuuta.”

Toge’s mark develops when he’s thirteen. His power is coveted and dangerous, and he requires a guard to protect him. Luckily for him, Okkotsu Yuuta, also thirteen, has just been discovered by the Inumaki clan, and they want him for Toge. Yuuta is devoted, beyond their expectations. This causes problems.

He found himself looking up at it every few moments. He could see part of the forest, but part of the sea, too, and the sun hung low on the waters, providing him with just a bit more light to finish the dishes.
When the sun looked like a yolk on the water, he felt the same low humming feeling of being watched. Even though it was a sensation more than a sound, it still made a muffled buzzing in his head.
Shang Qinghua stiffened, hands soaking in the water that still ran over his hands.

Shang Qinghua scrapes together the money he has to buy an abandoned chateau on the sea. It's beautiful, but needs a lot of repair. As he slowly makes his way through each project, he sees more and more of something he can't quite explain.

It sometimes felt like he was being followed. Or, if not followed, watched. The prickly feeling at the base of his skull would tingle, and he’d turn, but there didn’t seem to be anyone suspicious. It also felt like he wasn’t alone sometimes, even when the streets were empty.

Summary
It was there, just a stone’s throw away. Shang Qinghua’s breath was shuddery and weak, shallowly entering and leaving his chest. His palms were sweating, so he swiped them on his pants a few times. It wasn’t effective, but Shang Qinghua didn’t try any more. He pushed himself through the underbrush and crawled forward.
And there it was, lying in a small patch of grass. A dragon.

When Shang Qinghua was just a boy, he met a dragon, but not long after, they were separated. Shang Qinghua never stopped looking. Neither did Mobei Jun.
