“Well, I believe in fair dealings, so I intend to pay you back with interest,” Jane said. “You’re lucky that you’re in the hands of a queen.”
A flash of surprise flickered across Guildford’s face, instantaneously replaced by a look of concern as he registered the full import of Jane’s words. “You don’t mean—” He began to make his way across the room in long, quick strides. “Are you quite sure you want that?”
Jane is proclaimed the queen following the will of the (allegedly) late king Edward; but opposing forces are hard at work to thwart her coronation, before she can even take a step inside the royal court. Guildford refuses to be an uninvolved party in this alternate series of events leading up to Jane taking the throne.
