Summary
Under the beautiful regime, Great Britain is set to emerge into the perfect era. Prepared for the turn of the century, the Lord Protector plans to host a ball at the castle previously known as Hogwarts. In attendance will be his ward, Harry Potter. Among others will also be the curious acquistion of the Greengrass family, Hermione Granger, who had once been a mudblood and yet found to be the child of a squib. Having once attended Hogwarts before leaving the country, Hermione is very familiar with the castle... just as she is familiar with Harry Potter. Or at least, the boy she knew when they were children.

It doesn’t occur to Harry until supper that night, while Luna makes a Spanish tortilla with pink and blue potatoes from her garden, that Granger might actually be his friend now. Not just a transferable friend, comfortable with him because she’d grown up with a strangely domestic alternative version of him with short hair, but a real friend. Since he’s not sure how to feel about it, he eats his half of the tortilla in a silent daze and then helps Luna go over the last of the proofs for next week’s Quibbler.

She passed James, who was gently bouncing his way up the hall the opposite way. "I think he's asleep," James mouthed over Harry's tousled head. His hair was the same mess, his head bent down as he peered at his sleeping son.
Lily stopped where she stood, her nephew heavy on her chest, her husband smiling, her sister buried. "James," she said. "How are we going to do this?"

Considering what they’re discussing, Harry finds it amusing that Ron can’t say the actual word.
