Summary
Boris frowned, eyebrows furrowing as his head began to ache again. “Are…we friends?”
A harsh silence fell over them, and Boris continued softly.
“I feel like I’m forgetting something…”
Theo bit his lip, contemplating how to answer. “We um, we never really…we weren’t big on labels but…I guess we were boyfriends.”
“Really?” Boris looked at him in awe, eyes almost sparkling at the news. “How did I land someone so cute?”
Theo couldn’t help laughing at that. In a weird way, it made him feel better, but at the same time?
It felt like his heart was being torn in two.
OR: Boris' father hurt him a bit more seriously than he thought when he hit him over the head with the cane.

Summary
Theo wasn’t exactly an expert at any of the languages Boris spoke on occasion, so when Mr. Pavlikovsky started shouting wildly, he couldn’t really follow any of it.
But based on his wild gestures and loud tone, Theo was going to guess whatever he was saying wasn’t positive.
Boris stood up from the couch and held his hands out, as if trying to gesture for his father to calm down as he spoke back, far too fast for Theo to try and follow.
And then Mr. Pavlikovsky grabbed him.
OR: Mr. Pavlikovsky comes home while Boris and Theo are hanging out in the living room. And this time, without needing to leave to protect Popchyk, Theo will be damned if he doesn't step him when Mr. Pavlikovsky tries to hurt his son.

“What…What did you just say, Boris?” Theo breathed out shakily, stopping in his tracks to stare at Boris.
Boris stopped walking to glance at Theo when Theo had stopped walking, his expression irritatingly casual.
“We were better as friends, Potter. We should go back to that, yes?”
And then he left. He just walked into school and left Theo stood there, not caring how he’d react.
OR: Boris breaks up with Theo out of the blue, and starts acting weird in general. It takes a week of distance, a nosebleed and a school nurse for Theo to finally realize what happened: Boris had been assaulted.

“I mean…would one page really matter?”
A small yip.
Boris grinned and pulled Popchyk into a hug. “I agree.”
With that, he was snatching the diary from underneath Theo's pillow and flipping open to a random page.
What he found shocked him.
It wasn’t a diary.
It was a poetry journal.
OR: Boris finds Theo's poetry journal and realizes he's in love with someone.
Too bad he's too oblivious to realize it's him.
Thankfully Theo love's him anyways.

“Promise me you won’t do this anymore.” Theo demanded, bringing Boris out of his thoughts.
Boris frowned deeply. “Potter-“
“PROMISE!” He shouted, voice growing thick with unshed tears.
And who was Boris to deny his boyfriend anything?
Pulling the hiccupping boy into his arms, Boris sighed heavily. “Stupid Potter…emotional drunk.”
He held Theo like it would be the last time, and for just a little while pretended like anxiety wasn’t clawing its way through his chest.
OR: Theo finds out Boris self-harms. Sometimes loving someone just isn't enough to make it better.

“Potter…why is it you tried to kill yourself?”
Something painful and dark dropped into Theo’s stomach at those words.
OR: Theo tries to commit suicide but is stopped by Boris. It takes a week for them to actually talk about it.

“I’m not talking about this right now. I have to go.” Theo stated finally, before his eyes widened once more. “I’m not going to say that.” He spoke into the phone through gritted teeth.
Hobie turned on the kettle, briefly glancing at Theo who did his best not to make eye contact.
“Boris- Boris we talked about this,” Theo started in annoyance.
Ah, so it was Boris. Hobie kind of figured, Theo didn’t exactly have many friends.
OR: In a world where Boris never took the painting, he and Theo keep in contact through letters and phone calls. Also their relationship is definitely gay and Hobie really wants to meet the boy who can get somebody like Theo flustered in mere minutes.

"Is good, is good. You trust me enough to hurt me." Boris insisted with a wide grin.
But his grin did nothing to ease Theo's distress, if anything only causing it to grow. "What? Boris- Boris that's not-"
Boris' smile faded away as he realized Theo was starting to panic. "What can I do? How can I ease Potter's fears?"
"Well- For starters you can tell me when I'm hurting you during my attacks!" Theo exclaimed, unable to keep his volume at a low level anymore. "And for another you can stop acting like me hurting you is some weird sign of affection!"
OR: Theo finds out that when he has panic attacks during the night, he sometimes grips onto Boris way harder than he thought. Boris just wants to be there for him and not think about his messed up homelife for once.
