Summary
Nobody volunteers to die, that’s what they say.
Except Skua knows death. It follows her everywhere, especially as she enters adulthood. First she lets her community down, then she has to stumble away from her wedding in a lace dress bathed in blood. How can you be married less than an hour before you are widowed?
Worse, how can you pick up the pieces afterwards?
The answer is simple - you can't. For Skua the question is not why go to die, it is why fight to live? If death cannot stop following you, then it is time to go to death and welcome him as a friend.
