He’s staring dully off into space when you finally place down four buckets the size of your head on the small table, but snaps to attention as soon as the buckets land. You watch, with no mild sense of horror, as he finishes an entire bucket in the time it takes you to place the final one.
You hesitate. You feel like maybe you should say something.
“Are you… okay?”
“He was my one and only,” he blubbers out immediately among a mouthful of chicken, and you instantly regret even asking. “We were the strongest.”

It’s nice sitting here, in Regulus’s dorm. Nice to get away from that desk he always does his homework on. Nice to not have all this noise around him. Nice to not have someone a few feet away at all times, someone who wants something from him — advice, a funny joke, a shoulder to cry on, help with an essay.
He loves to help people. But sometimes he feels like he’s on a sinking ship, each request another bucket of water spilt on deck, and no one expects him to need a lifeboat because he’s such a good swimmer.
He still needs someone to hold him.
James is overwhelmed by homework and worried about his friends. Regulus reminds him that he needs to take care of himself too.

“Hi,” Will blurts out before he can stop himself, and he can feel his cheeks heat up in embarrassment so quickly it must be unhealthy somehow. “Uh -“
The guy shuts his phone off and reaches up to his ear to pull out an earbud. He shoots Will a grin, which does not help the whole blushing-crimson thing. “Hey,” he says coolly, and Will admires his composure while he wills the earth to collapse beneath him.
The guy quirks an eyebrow at Will when he doesn’t look away, then seems to take in his slightly disheveled and paint-stained appearance - he’d had his painting and drawing class just before he’d gone home, and had managed, as he always does, to get paint everywhere - because his smile grows a little softer, a little fonder. His shoulders relax against the bench, and Will lets out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. “You get sexiled?”
