Summary
“What are you talking about?” Maddie’s voice asks, slightly tinny.
The door struggles to open behind him and he drops the phone.
“Mads,” he says, panic slinking into every syllable. “I—I think—“
“Buck, come out,” Bobby says. “Please, baby.”
Buck’s stomach turns and he shakes his head. No, absolutely not. That—crime against humanity is what that is. As if lunch hadn’t been traumatizing enough.
“Was that Bobby?” Maddie’s voice is distant but rightfully alarmed.
“Something’s wrong with them,” Buck yells down at the phone. “I—I know I said I can get anyone to fall in love with me but this is not what I meant!”
or, the 118 gets dosed with a love potion.

Summary
"Chim told me to go home," Buck murmurs.
Eddie swallows, gaze dipping down over the sight of him — Buck knows he’s a mess. Knows his hair must be all over the place, and the bags under his eyes definitely haven’t disappeared in the last couple hours. His clothes are wrinkled and he’s wearing two different shoes. Eddie’s gaze comes back up, slow, exacting, and then he asks, "So you came here?"
And Buck hears the question behind the question clearer than the question itself.
This is home?

Or, Buck goes home.

Summary
“Oh,” Eddie yells after him, tone almost mocking. “So that’s it? You’re just going to walk away?”
Buck stops, biting down on his cheek. He knows, distantly, that they’re making a scene. That everyone who isn’t actively putting what’s left of the fire out can see and hear everything they’re saying. He sighs. “I don’t know why you’re so pissed,” he mutters, twisting back around to face him just in time to see Eddie’s eyebrows rise high up on his forehead.
“You don’t know why I’m pissed?” Eddie asks, stepping towards him.
Shit. He needs to walk away before this blows up. They’re one throw away comment from explosion.
Buck whips back around, taking a step towards the engine and away from Eddie. “That’s what I said,” he calls over his shoulder. Which—maybe, isn’t the thing to say to cool things down.
But—
“I’m pissed,” Eddie shouts back, voice frayed and desperate, “Because I fucking love you.”

Summary
“Buck.”
He takes a shaky breath. “Hey, bud. What—what’s—“
“Why aren’t you here?”
Oh, god.
Something’s happened.
Something’s happened and Eddie’s parents didn’t tell him.
“Dad needs you. Why aren’t you here?”
He shoves the chair back, rising to stand, a hand weaving into his hair. “I—I’ll get on a plane. Today. I’ll find a flight. I’ll be there, Chris. Okay? I’m on my way.”
Chris sighs. “Hurry.”

Or, Buck goes to El Paso.

Summary
“At work,” Buck scoffs. His brain is so close to sleep, but he’s never been able to drift away without replaying the day over in his head, no matter how tired he is.
“Before work,” Eddie mumbles into Buck’s curls. “Tech - -” he’s cut off by a yawn, “ - - nically.”
Or, Eddie has terrible, terrible timing.
