Summary
He should be glad of it. He doesn’t want people to know he’s struggling, and they don’t. But why doesn’t Buck know? He’s always known, always seen through Eddie’s carefully constructed walls and carved himself a door into them. Even when Eddie resisted, even when he pushed back, Buck ducked his head and shoved through and found the tender hurt Eddie was guarding, cupped his hands around it and held until it didn’t ache so much.
And now Eddie’s bleeding internally, swollen with regret, and Buck doesn’t say a thing. Eddie can’t ask him to. If he opens his mouth, he might just start screaming.
~
There's distance between Eddie and Buck. Eddie isn't falling apart. These are two equally true statements.

Summary
"I miss you."
Eddie didn’t mean to say it, didn’t even know he was thinking it. Buck shifts a little restlessly.
"I literally could not be closer to you," he says dryly. Which isn’t true, after all. They’re under the same covers, Buck’s body warming him as his must be warming Buck’s, but there’s plenty of space between them.
The only way to change things is to find a way to say what you want.

The choice was far too easy, and yet the repercussions would be heavier than steel.
Leon could bear the weight, though. For Luis, he would try.

Summary
“I didn’t keep most of the memories. Other people’s memories. I get flashes of big things, births, deaths. Except about you.”
Carol feels the confusion slip onto her face. Nervousness creeps up her spine again. “Me?”
“I know everything that anybody has ever thought about you, Carol. Every memory. Every feeling. Helen. Your ex-girlfriends. Your dentist. It’s like I have a Carol encyclopedia in my head.”
Carol had thought that she was done experiencing fresh horrors. What a nightmare it is to realize that she is not. “Oh, god.” She says.
“Oh, god,” Zosia agrees.
After they manage to break Zosia free of the hive, Zosia and Carol try to navigate the field of landmines that is their relationship.

Summary
Zosia tucks an errant strand of Carol’s hair behind her ear, and her hand lingers there afterward, cupping Carol’s jaw, as Helen often did, and Carol stops her, pulling back from the kiss, with a hand on Zosia’s collarbone.
“Please,” says Carol. “Not Helen. Or anyone else I’ve ever slept with. Leave them out of it. You know who they are.”
“We do,” says Zosia.
“Give me a blank slate,” says Carol. “Give me teenage fumbling.”
