If the neighbours noticed that Vincent rarely came back from work in the same clothes he left in, they would assume he was having an affair. Guests at their dinner parties reasoned that Alastor’s lavish knife collection was simply a side-effect of living in an East Coast city.
The world could believe everything it wanted to. It was more important for a healthy couple to have things in common.
