“Why,” the Djinn purred, his voice sugary. “When I can offer your heart’s desire.”
“Because people disappear when you’re around. Nya’s right over there. I can scream, you know.” Jay snapped, gesturing in her direction.
“Oh, I know,” Nadakhan chuckled darkly. “Well, I guess you’ll keep floundering in that little love dilemma of yours. Nya is a charming young woman, no doubt.” The Djinn’s smile widened, cruel. “But your ghost friend… he has his own appeal, despite being halfway to the afterlife.”
