The creaking of the mattress woke him from his sleep. Philip opened his eyes and lifted his head slightly. - „He's dead..." - He heard Elizabeth's quiet voice behind him.
Without turning to face her, he laid his head back on the pillow and stared blankly ahead. A heavy silence weighed in the room. They were both concerned about the news from overseas.
