“I know how tired you are,” she purred. “You’ve fought for everyone but yourself. You bend and break for people who will never understand you. You think if you’re useful enough, good enough, maybe someone will finally say, ‘You belong.’ ” Zoey stayed silent but she was trembling.
“I see it all, you know…” the spitting image of her said tilting her head, with those too-familiar eyes gleaming with a yellow undertone. “...every thought you try to bury, every little crack. You pretend you’re strong, but inside? You’re starving.”
Zoey’s knees threatened to buckle, her head fogging and her defences crumbling. It felt like her thoughts weren’t hers anymore — like something was wrapping around her mind gently, sweetly.
“You’re so pathetic,” the demon said, voice low, almost affectionate, as she reached forward and gently lifted Zoey’s chin with one cold, flawless hand. “You don’t just want somewhere to belong….” she said, eyes glowing with something ancient and terrifying now.
The words didn’t cut. They sank.
“...You need it.”
Or
Zoey is met with her doppelganger instead of Rumi after the Idol Awards, fighting her inner and outer demon.

Startled, Mira looks over her shoulder. Her stomach sinks without a warning, and that same chill from earlier claws its way down her spine without mercy.
Because standing over there with Zoey, her mouth parted open in pure shock, is Rumi.
Rumi, who was supposed to be beneath Mira. Who is still underneath Mira.
Rumi, who summons her newly enlarged saingeom without hesitation.
Rumi, who sits up and hums wickedly into Mira’s ear.
“You mind getting off my lap, sweetheart?”
Rumi would never say that. Rumi would never call her that. Rumi would never look at her like that.
Mira gasps, and ‘Rumi’ grins. “Took you long enough.”
