Summary
Given that Eddie had known Richie almost his entire life, Eddie also knew that there wasn’t a chance in hell of Richie really arriving on time. Without a doubt he would get ready to the point where he’d almost be on time and then would remember he was supposed to get snacks, where he would then have to go and buy the snacks first, resulting in him being on average 37 minutes and 41 seconds late. Not that Eddie kept track or anything.
All this was to say- Eddie had about 37 minutes and 41 seconds (28 minutes and 53 seconds if he was being careful, and conservative) to deal with the increasingly active problem in his shorts.

Summary
If, at any given moment, you were to ask a teenager their favorite day of the week, the answer would not as expected, always be Friday. Instead, the answer would often be an ammolgimation of days social life came to a peak, when a favorite class occurred, or simply the easiest day of the week. Often it would be followed shortly with the statement of their least favorite day, even if not asked. For Mycroft Holmes, the two days were one and the same.

“Look, Eddie. I know you’d be a first time cat owner, but that’s nothing to worry about,” Richie says, so confidently, Eddie can’t be sure if he’s talking about the same thing he’s talking about. His brain is full of flashing alarms and sirens, he doesn’t know anymore who picked this metaphor, or if they’re actually talking about pets. “I haven’t had a cat since Watergate,” Richie laughs. “If you can imagine. But uh, I can still remember the ropes. If you wanted to get a cat together, I’d even be happy to, ya know, take the little guy to get tested, if that was what you needed...”
“Oh God,” Eddie buries his face in his hands. Well, Richie’s definitely talking about what he’s talking about, at least.

Eddie squeezes his hand and starts to pull away. Richie tightens his grip, doesn’t let go; instead, he tugs Eddie’s hand over the table so he can kiss the back of it. The way Eddie looks at him behind his glasses, his brown eyes so honeyed-warm, makes Richie melt.
“You know,” Richie tells him. “You’re just about enough to make a man want to leave the sunny Hills behind for the cold east coast again.”
