Summary
The Dursleys were perfectly normal, thank you very much. The family lived on Number 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey. Their house was neat, but modest; with red brick and a black door, the Dursley home contained two stories and four bedrooms. Their lawn was perfectly manicured, due to one Mrs. Dursley, and their bills were paid in a timely manner, thanks to one Mr. Dursley. There were toys strewn across the back lawn, but of course that was perfectly normal behavior of a young child such as Dudley Dursley. Vernon Dursley worked at a respectable firm in the city, and Petunia Dursley held dinner parties for her neighborhood association each month. Everything about the Dursleys was perfectly normal, with the exception of one small detail.
Harry Potter was anything but normal. This was abundantly clear by the fact that there was a snake hissing at him from the ground and he understood it perfectly.
