    It's Octavia's eighteenth birthday, and she has nothing left to celebrate. When her plans for a lakeside celebration with Loona devolve into a vacation with Stolas and the imp he eloped with, Octavia resigns herself to a long, uncomfortable weekend spent avoiding them.

    Something is wrong with the lake, though. Guttural howls echo from the woods at night, and the water outside their cabin's windows fills her with unexplainable dread. With Blitz and Stolas oblivious to the darkness swelling around them, Octavia is forced to confront her fears, both of the lake and of the people staying on its shore.

    "Well, it is a big deal," Vortex replies, rubbing gentle circles into her hip. "To me, I mean."

    Loona is ball-deep in love with Vortex and Bee, but nervous about the actual practice of someone being balls-deep in her in return; knotting is a serious commitment, and she's never done it before. They're happy help her through it.
