“What–Damian, why are you doing this?” he asks because it’s the only thing he can. Red eyes rule out the Lazarus Pit and fear toxin usually evokes breakdowns, not angry murder sprees. That leaves some other form of brainwashing, magic probably. Rao, of course it’s magic.
“Because I hate you,” Damian spits and Jon falters mid-air, his sneakers banging against the floor.
“What?” His voice breaks on the end, coming out as a whisper, as a plea. Damian hurls another knife without blinking and Jon lets it hit him, bouncing off the shield emblazoned on his chest.
“I. Hate. You,” he says again slowly through gritted teeth. “And I am going to kill you.”

Damian tries. He gags and coughs, splutters trying to take in just one full breath.
The force of panic slams against his chest and causes Todd to sway in front of him. His vision blackens and he claws at his neck. His ears roar, muffling what noise he could make out of Todd yelling.
His chest tingles and burns. Was he dying? He had to be dying.
