Summary
Mike and Will settled into their New York high-rise apartment. The city was loud and jarring for two small-town college kids, but they made do. The noise of Hawkins's gossip was replaced by the disgruntled yells of jaywalkers.
Finally, they had found peace. They had each other, and that was what mattered.
With every morning tangled under the same sheets, Mike felt a strange feeling stirring in his chest. It fluttered with every kiss he pressed to Will's forehead and cheek. Any appreciative gesture they traded back and forth sprang that same strange, peculiar feeling to life.
It was a simple, unspoken thing that always passed between them that Mike couldn't quite name...

Mike grabs Will’s hands and tangles them with his own, blinking up at him through his long, dark lashes. His eyes are endless. Solid black, like the night above them. So shiny that Will can see himself, tipsy and happy, in the reflection. “I want to be stuck with you,” Mike whispers, like it’s a secret. “I don’t ever want to leave.”
Will sucks in a sharp breath, squeezing his hands. “Then don’t,” he whispers back, punched-out and honest. “Stay.”

Summary
"Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me."
When Will Byers comes out in the middle of the apocalypse, Mike Wheeler is forced to come face-to-face with his own identity.
In the following years, Mike isolates himself from The Party and becomes wrapped up in a cycle of grief and shame. When he finally returns to Hawkins, he is forced to face the consequences of his self-isolation.
Set over a decade of missed opportunities (read: angst) and snapshots in time, Mike has to learn to forgive himself and find his way back home.

“Shut up.” He lets his head fall to Mike’s shoulder, closing his eyes.
Mike’s hand travels up to his hair, playing with his ends and scratching at his scalp. Will lets out an embarrassing whimper at that. Jeez, get it together, Will. “Let’s get you to bed.”
He complies just as easily as Mike drags him down the hallway towards their shared room.
OR
Mike can't go two seconds without being close to Will - so obviously, they have to sleep in the same bed.
