“It’s my best friend’s birthday. Well, not my best friend anymore, but - it brings back bad memories.”

“Why do you still talk to her, then?” Scorpia asks, a question Catra asks herself every year. Then her eyes suddenly widen. “Wait, Adora? Perfuma and I are catering for her party.”

Catra whips around so fast she feels her head spinning. She’s pretty sure a hiss comes out of her mouth. “What?”

“Yeah! Perfuma’s one of her friends, so it’s on the house. We need to be there before dinner to set decorations up. What did she do to you?”

“Nothing.” She’s technically not lying, but it does sound a bit defensive. “We grew apart.”

    “Do you… miss her?”

    Catra scoffs. “No.”

    Summary

Ten years passed since Adora and Catra had last seen each other, a happy childhood spent together cut short by a horrible tragedy in Adora's life.
Back in their original home town, she finds herself a music professor at a prestigious college where memories haunt her every move. Guilt from what happened takes her to the orchestra, where she finds a familiar face and a rush of emotions from when they were young.
Adora has no choice but to come to terms with what happened in order to move on. At the same time, Catra has no choice but to face the feelings she'd let go when Adora abandoned her all those years ago.
Together, they rebuild what had been torn down, brick by brick. Finding new trust means to forgive. Making new memories means accepting the old ones.
The only thing they knew for sure was that they weren't going to let go again.

    Summary

“And this edge that you’ve been walking, where you’re stable but the ledge is fragile, I’ve pushed you off it, Catra, by coming back here.”

“Adora, you didn’t push me off the edge, I fell and that’s it,” Catra told her, reaching across the patio railing and intertwining her fingers with Adora’s, squeezing her palm three times before adding, “You’re just the idiot who jumped in after me.”

Sniffling, Adora squeezed Catra’s hand back. Her blue eyes held within them the reflection of the bleeding sunset painted across the infinite desert sky. The corner of Adora’s mouth rose as she asked, “You regret taking my ride request yet?”

A year after the events of upper west side, Catra and Adora are finally at a place where they can move forward with their lives and have a stable future with one another. But when the ghosts of their past begin to show face in Bright Moon with tantalizing requests of Catra and Adora in exchange for the rest of the answers they've been looking for, the two have no other choice to go back to their hometown in Arizona to uncover the mysteries of their past before their ghosts can sucker them in. With their future on the line, can Adora and Catra's love beat a ticking clock?

“I don’t need you anymore,” Catra says coldly.

“I don’t care,” replies Adora. Her voice wavers for a moment, and then steadies. “We’re the only two people on this entire planet.”

    Summary

“I mean,” explains Adora, “We were friends for so long, and all that. Don’t you–” she swallows, “–don’t you miss me, too?”

“You can’t miss someone sitting right across from you,” responds Catra. Adora can’t help but disagree.

She looks at Catra expectantly, and after a pause, Catra lets out a long breath. “Fine, fine,” she says. “You’ve always been my favorite ghost, skeleton in the closet, whatever.” Adora frowns over at her. Catra shrugs, evidently unwilling to say anything else. Catra gives her another look that punctuates this, a look that says stop asking for more and Adora, folding her hands neatly, does as she's told.
