Summary
Eddie Diaz’s order was simple: become a regular at the 118, a coffee house with suspected ties to organized crime. His captain wanted him to get close to the staff so they could expose the truth behind their overly polite smiles, suspiciously well-priced coffee, and ever shifting open hours. Only Eddie wasn’t supposed to get this close. But damn it, how was he supposed to avoid falling for the hot barista behind the counter who always signed his cup with a heart. Lines between personal and professional, right and wrong, love and danger soon become a hazy memory and fuck it if Eddie cares.

Summary
Margaret and Phillip spent years not seeing their children and then slowly got back into contact with them until this point, where they think they’re in a pretty decent place, actually.
Except then Buck gets injured and, as his hospital room fills with evidence of a life they know absolutely nothing about and they meet and hear about people they’ve never heard of (including a child?!), they realise that perhaps it was all simply too little, too late after all.
