Summary
Ivan has a grotesque fixation on one of the wagyein. Sua isn’t surprised in the slightest—she thinks it’s quite like him. It’s ugly, for one, and it’s a slobbering mess of a beast, for another. She hadn’t thought it capable of anything but violence—because what else would those things exist for—but Ivan has managed to wrangle some sort of understanding from it, if what he says is to be trusted. Usually, it isn’t.
“It’s cute,” Ivan says, motioning for Sua to come closer. Sua thinks she’s already too close, given that she’s within its range of motion. Ivan’s borderline stupid with the way he presses his forehead to its maw, huffing softly as he runs his hand along the underside of its jaw.
He’s gone mad, Sua thinks. This stupid boy has gone mad and he’s going to be eaten and he’s about to make it my problem, and then I will be late to meet Mizi again.
