Summary
Things don’t stay how you leave them. They grow ruined by weather and tampering hands, and one’s own monstrous stupidity to leave them in the first place. Vi had come back to a carcass of their relationship and tried to breathe life into it by sheer force of will. It had not worked.

Summary
The next words that leave Violet’s mouth only seem to confirm Caitlyn’s dread, and she tries her best to keep the gasp of horror from escaping her throat. “She followed us anyway. Set up one of her toy bombs and just…fucking obliterated the building.”
In another world, one where Jinx hasn’t killed dozens of people in her young life, where she hasn’t spent the last few months wild with grief over the death of Silco by demolishing different areas of Zaun, Caitlyn might have found the similarities between the two sisters admirable. Where, no matter the distance between them, they’d both kept to their childhood hobbies and refined them into mastered skills; the only difference being that one came to rely on her physical abilities while the other learned to engineer machines when her own body couldn’t withstand a punch or a kick.
“She’d just wanted to help,” Caitlyn hears Violet hiccup, the strong woman curling in on herself and letting a rare sob escape her lips, “She’d only followed us because she was scared, and I fucking hit her for it.”
