Summary
Patrick Jane does not realise he is in love with Teresa Lisbon all at once.
He realises it in pieces: in tea made without asking, in a crooked tie fixed before an interview, in her voice cutting through the dark before he can drown in it. Lisbon realises it harder, after the apartment feels wrong without him in it and the silence starts to feel less like peace and more like absence.
The team notices after that.
Cho notices first, because of course he does. Van Pelt notices because Lisbon smiles differently. Rigsby notices last, dramatically and far too late for his dignity to survive intact.
But when an old enemy of Jane’s comes back with bodies, messages, and a plan designed to tear him apart, the team finally sees the truth beneath all the teasing, domesticity, and quiet office touches.
This was never casual.
Patrick Jane survived losing his wife once.
He would not survive losing Teresa Lisbon.

Summary
Jane stood on Lisbon's porch longer than was reasonable.
The paper bag in his hand felt heavier than it had any right to. Four cannoli. Ridiculous, really, that four fragile pastries could feel like proof of intent. Proof that he had come here wanting something.

Summary
"Lisbon," he said, "I wouldn't do that to you. I'm your partner." She laughed out loud. "Right. My 'partner' who ditches me for six months for an undercover op he can't be bothered to tell me about. My 'partner' who hangs me out to dry in an interview with our lead suspect. I'm a stepping stone to Red John. Just like Lorelei. Except you've had to stand on me for a lot longer."

Summary
He studies her for a moment longer before he straightens, apparently content with the way he’s just ripped her worldview into pieces. Her mind is spiraling, and he’s already ready to brush it all to the side. “So you see, it’s just a few weak moments of fantasy,” he says, proving her right immediately. “Perfectly natural. So if we could head home-”
Oh no he doesn’t. This might be her one chance, and it might kill her, but if she can help him and have him for one night, can she really leave the opportunity sitting on the table?
No. The answer is no. God, does she hate herself this much?
“What if it wasn’t just fantasy?”

Summary
In which Jane brings her cannoli and does NOT find Pike there…
In my version, I imagined Lisbon as already being quite aware of her feelings for him. I found it a bit out of character for her to say in the prison cell, ‘I couldn’t admit that my feelings had changed for him,’ because I think she was always in love with him, and the writers intentionally made it more obvious than they did with Jane.
P.S.: A hug is their love language
P.P.S: Only later in my writing, I realized the “good job” in D.C. Jane mentions wasn’t proposed to Lisbon until after the events depicted here, but oh well...
English is not my first language, sorry in advance for any inaccuracies I’m sure you’ll find
