Mike pulls his head back to watch Will, their bodies half a beat off-kilter to the music. They stay like that for a few minutes, eyes taking each other in as the lights flash and change around them. Summary
Time is malleable inside Vecna's mind, so there's no telling how long it'll be before Will has a chance to escape. Hours here, days here, maybe longer. It's a daunting thought. Everything feels so grounded and real here, especially Mike. Will has to shove that pain away. His Mike, his real Mike, would never act like this, as if touching Will is as easy and necessary as breathing itself.
He needs to play along, pretend Vecna really did scramble his brain. He should be able to get by with as much of the truth as he knows it.
Will takes a deep breath, commands his hand to stay still as he it catches Mike's on Will's thigh. He watches Mike's eyes shift into something soft; Mike turns his hand over to lace their fingers together.
This is going to kill me, Will decides.
When Will finds himself in a Vecna vision perfectly tailored to his desires, the line between real and not real becomes blurred, and Will questions whether his memories — and this new, loving version of Mike — can be trusted.or:
