Langa’s frown deepened and he gave Miya a reluctant nod. Damn, no wonder he’s been avoiding his phone if that’s why it’s been blowing up. Leaning back, Reki tapped his fingers against the can in his hand. His thoughts started to run in circles about how to potentially get Langa out of this mess. Would ditching the party work? Or maybe something else…
“Hey Langa,” Miya said, now standing in front of them with this glint in his eye like he had figured it all out. Oh, Reki already knew he wasn’t going to like where this was going. “You could just bring someone to act as your partner.”

Langa's family from Canada is over for the holidays and Miya has a great suggestion for how to deal with Langa's pushy aunt. Just simply fake date your best friend during a holiday party. Of course, Langa agrees and well, Reki just can't say no now can he.

Silver gasped, breath billowing in front of him. Despite his first hopes, he had ended up in a ruined future, it was the only explanation for the sight before him. He had to go back and fix it, right away.
Turning a full 180, his eyes locked onto the portal flexing the space around it. The edges shimmered with otherworldly power and he hesitated.
Then, in a flourish of blinding light, the portal disintegrated in front of his eyes.
That had never happened before.

When Silver is stranded in a ruined future with barely any life, his only course of action is to try and find a Chaos Emerald in order to return to the past. At the same time, Shadow and Omega are on a journey to try and find a new body for the recently body-less Omega. When the three of them have a chance meetup, they decide to travel together. As they move across the strange, chaos energy tainted land, they have to rely on the bond they form with each other to survive whatever the future decides to throw at them.

Sonic stopped his stroll, brows twitching into a frown. "What's wrong Silver?"
His mind pressed around me and I tried to squish myself further into his sensory nodes. It was a stupid thought, nothing to worry about.
A low, disbelieving hum reverberated through Sonic's chest. I had to redirect the conversation I had just started. (Why had I even started it in the first place? Was it even a question I wanted answers to?)

Summary
I may be a vast and immensely powerful MI, but even so (or perhaps, and especially so) I am not immune to finding artifacts in my functionality reports. Sometimes, something fails to get the grain of processing power it needs to complete the query in time and generates a jumble of recursive nonsense code as it stutters in place. I don't spare it another thought as I dismiss the error message and forward the report as reference for cleanup. It'll all be gone by the next cycle.
