Summary
“Vinessa,” James says again, gesturing upward. “The wind. It’s the most consistent of the southern winds. Starts out from the east just after sunset on warm days in early spring, and grows stronger as the night goes on until it dies down after midnight.” He pulls out a cigarette and lights it, blowing a smoke ring out toward the lake where it is soon scattered by the breeze. “They say Vinessa is especially soothing for weary travellers.”
“Do they?”
James nods sagely. “They do.”
“And is that you?” Robbie asks, “a weary traveller?”

Summary
This, whatever it is between them, is new. A soft, delicate thing that neither of them has dared define or even mention outside the bedroom, though it has been many weeks since Robbie spent a night alone. It isn’t love, not yet, but Robbie can feel his heart leaning in that direction. Leaning toward James every chance he gets, to the point where he’s had to stop himself reaching out at crime scenes twice this past week.

Summary
"Why don't you?" Lewis asks.
They're eating sandwiches on a bench outside the Ashmolean. The sky is a clear, cold blue. Lewis's question appears to have emerged directly from it and dropped into James' lap without a parachute.
"I considered it, sir, but once you turn down MI-5, I don't think they're too keen on you changing your mind."
Lewis knocks his shoulder into James' in reprimand. "Go into academia, I mean. Teach or something."
James looks down at his ham sandwich and back up at Lewis. "And leave all this?"
