Where ever since Pete was rescued from captivity where he spent many years, he has had a problem (actually, he has several problems): he can't look an alpha in the eye. Not only is he afraid, he is also deeply ashamed. And because of that, he lives vicariously through the novels he writes.
So when a mysterious tattooed alpha moves in next door, Pete can barely stand to look at him.

Summary

It's like Vegas would say "love is a plague that plagues the muggle's heart"... or something like that, anyway, love is a plague, that's the moral of the story, and Tankhun had understood that. Or at least he thought he understood, until Gun Thanayut Attaphan happened — his brothers' best friend arrived to make Tankhun rethink absolutely everything he'd ever agreed to be right about love.
But of course, that new path wouldn't be easy, not when you're living indefinitely under the same roof as Vegas, Kinn, and Kim (and eventually Macau, who acts like a pet, occasionally popping in to steal food). Goddess help him.

It’s only when he begins trying to do that it becomes obvious that Vegas has no idea how to adore a person. It’s not like he’s had many examples to learn from. It’s not like he has many memories of his mother, and even less of her in the same room as his father. It’s not like he’s felt it before, not the way he’s trying to give it to Pete. Wholeheartedly. Kindly. With grace and respect and care.
Gently. Vegas wants to be able to love gently, but he’s not sure he’s capable of it.
