Summary
Chuuya has a crush on Dazai.
Dazai knows this, and he thinks it’s a prime opportunity to mess with his partner a little. After all, why not? Chuuya’s reactions to his flirting are priceless, a new little bonus feature to the game between them, and Dazai actually starts to find it more entertaining than outright arguing.
It’s all harmless fun until Dazai realizes that he has feelings too. Then it's decidedly not.

The eavesdropping teen slapped a hand over his mouth to hide the laugh that nearly escaped it. That other person’s voice went from playful to seductive real fast. Is our dear Chuuya having a late-night stand, oh I can’t wait until the others hear about this! He thought gleefully. Now the only thing to do was to figure out who the person he was hooking up with was. It was obvious that Chuuya and the person were familiar with each other, and judging by the conversation it wasn’t the first time they had done this. Oh, the excitement!
Although the last sentence he heard was not something he ever expected. “Yeah I know, Osamu.”
Before Albatross could worry about the people below him noticing his head dropped and hit the floorboards with a loud thunk. He’s fucking Osamu fucking Dazai?!

Summary
It hurts; it's a bitter pill to swallow but Chuuya has known since long, long ago that Dazai doesn't care about him in that way. Not like how he cares about Oda or the weretiger or any of his Agency comrades. To him, Chuuya isn't a partner or a friend or someone important, just a powerful piece in the game against Dostoevsky. A precious puppet or a pet, maybe, but still a puppet nonetheless - one step below, one step behind, someone to be manipulated and played with. Exactly like the nickname Dazai gave him.
A dog. A good, obedient, little dog.
(Fuck, why does he still care? Why does he still care about this stupid, slimy, bandage-wrapped mackerel, it has been seven years of torment and four years of separation and it should've stopped hurting already, damnit.)
