Summary
Eddie Munson is a tactile guy. He shows his friends affection through little touches and kind words, grabbing their shoulder, ruffling their hair, telling the kids they did a great job and he's proud of them.
Steve Harrington is quite the opposite of Eddie. Most days he can't find the comforting words he wishes he could offer, or build up the courage to reach out and just touch. Growing up with absent parents will do that to a guy. He can't help the uncomfortable buzzing feeling beneath his skin when his shoulder brushes past someone, much less the full body electricity that comes with a hug.

Summary
Lucas is so quiet when he asks, “Steve, are you okay?”
Steve has to blink Lucas into view, the confusion furrowing his brows. “What?”
“Your hands…” Lucas whispers.
Steve looks down to see his fingers tremoring against the plate he’s clinging to. All at once, he feels anxiety sweep over him like a bucket of ice water. “I uh…”
“Steve?” Dustin joins, looking equally as nervous, “You okay, man?”
He turns off the water, scrunching up his eyes and bracing his hands on the edge of the sink. His head ducks, but the boys can see his back expanding stuttering breaths. “I uh…fuck–” he mutters.
“Steve? What’s wrong?”
“I–I can’t–” Steve gasps, “Robin–get Ro–b-bin.”
“Robin!” Dustin shouts, “Help!”

Summary
After an altercation with his dad, Steve hides away in the pantry in his kitchen and calls for help on the walkie-talkie. Luckily, Eddie is awake and comes to the rescue, stealing Steve away to stay at the Munsons’ until it’s safe for Steve to go back. Steve hates when either of his parents come home to visit, especially when it’s his dad. It feels ridiculous to say but Steve thinks he’d rather face another Demogorgon.
A Demogorgon will smell blood in the water and kill on sight, but Mr. Harrington has a habit of dragging it out and making sure his prey knows they’re bleeding. The monsters under the bed are nothing compared to the monsters down the hall, Steve’s an expert. He’s known for a long time now how messed up it all is, he knows he needs out, needs help, but it feels impossibly hard. It’s normal for him and he’s dealt with it this long, he just needs to tough it out until he can afford his own place.
It doesn’t occur to Steve that he has a plethora of people willing to fight monsters at his side, whether the monsters are from the Upside Down or his own home. With the help of his monster hunting crew, Steve escapes his parents and learns what love is really supposed to be.
