Summary
Before the orb, before the fall, Gale was Mystra's perfect Chosen, until Lyanna Harken pulled him from the depths and breathed life back into his lungs. Unbidden. Unwanted. Unforgettable.
In the floating city of Sharn, his divine mission to recover a Netherese tome collides with her desperate search for the Whispering Blades. She offers chaos where he craves control. He promises order where she needs freedom. Neither expected to matter.
Pride goeth before a fall, but no one warns you how intoxicating the view from the edge can be.
Side B:
Lyanna Harken’s just a wanderer trying to find her late mentor’s legacy. She didn't sign up for drowning wizards, divine politics, or the way Mystra's Chosen looks at her like she's both salvation and damnation. Should've known better than to strike a deal with someone who thinks breathing is a debt to be repaid.Series

Marginalia from the Edge of the Divine- The Memoir of Gale Dekarios by LilyHeartsGale
Fandom: Baldur's Gate (Video Games), Dungeons & Dragons (Roleplaying Game), Forgotten Realms (Roleplaying Game)
07 Jul 2025
Summary
In this lyrical and haunting, Gale—once Mystra’s favored Chosen, now a scholar of elven high magic—unspools the tale of his extraordinary life: from his childhood in the alleys and libraries of Waterdeep to the moment he stood on the brink of apotheosis, ready to sacrifice himself for the world.
Written two decades after he found a quiet life in Evereska, Gale reflects on love, ambition, and the unbearable intimacy of magic. He chronicles his early enchantment with the goddess of magic and the seductive ruin of their affair, his missteps with power, and the redemptive weight of fatherhood.
But above all, it is a story of love—the love that saved him from destruction, the mother of his child, the one heart he could never let go. From their battles against the remnants of Netheril to quiet nights beneath Evereskan stars, Gale writes with aching beauty of a love both profound and impossible.
Part elegy, part confession, this is a story of one man’s reckoning with divinity, legacy, and the fragile threads of the heart.

A precocious spell from his mother’s scroll awakens the Weave within him. By age eight, Elminster arrives with an invitation to the Blackstaff Academy, altering the course of his life. Summary
Gale looked down from the heavens as Astarion frantically hit Tav on the chest, pressing his bleeding arm to her blue lips, desperately trying anything to bring her back.
Astarion sobbed and yelled at the sky, holding Tav's wet, bruised, and bleeding body on the rocky shores where she had washed up.
With a sudden gasp, Tav's head rose with a choking sound. Astarion immediately reached to hold her head up, pushing the sopping wet hair away from her face.
Tav looked up at Astarion with a question in her eyes, but all he could do was pull her into an embrace as he sobbed and held her.
Gale waved and the image disappeared, once again alone in his tower in the Astral Plane.
He should have left it at that, he knew that she was alive, confirmed that sending her soul back had worked. He should have been able to move on, let her live her life with Astarion, and forget all about the mortal girl he used to love.
He should feel happy for her second chance of life, proud of his ability to so easily take her memories of him, wiping her mind clean of how he had destroyed her.
So then why did he feel completely and utterly devastated?
