Robby furrowed his brow, “Hey — Not that I am not very grateful that you trust me enough to tell me but… how come that you came to me with this?”
His niece looked at him deadpan, like he’d just said the most obvious thing in the world.
“Uncle Mike…” She scoffed, “Why wouldn’t I come to you? You’re in a relationship with a man.”
Robby furrowed his brow even more, mouth dropping open. A silent ‘who?’ on his lips.
“Ugh!” Sofia huffed out, “Uncle Mike! I’m not stupid. Jack.”
Robby's niece makes a surprise visit and Robby realizes something.

“I didn’t say I minded, uh, sharing a bed with you.” Robby scratches at his beard and tries not to look at Jack. It’s hard because Jack isn’t even looking at the road; he’s smiling sideways at him.
“Don’t worry. I don’t kick.”
“I think the phrase is ‘I don’t bite’.”
Jack’s grin widens.
“That’s the problem. I do bite.”
Robby fears his recovery is going to feel very long.

Summary
It isn't the storm of a lifetime. It isn't even a hurricane. Robby wouldn't have thought twice of it, if the power hadn't gone out. While Robby wouldn't necessarily classify himself as being afraid of the dark, a combination storm-blackout... well, it reminds him of a very different time. He did his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 2009, after all, and the memories that come back to him are dark indeed.
