Nene and Boyfriend had never been particularly close. She'd always attributed it to something innate in the both of them - some people just didn't get along, even if all their friends did. That was fine. She found him tolerable at least, didn't mind being his friend; found being his metamour funny, especially, all these years later.
None of that was good enough right now.
She had to wonder if this was any of her business in the first place. She'd been primarily in charge of consoling Girlfriend after the incident with Monster - poor woman practically had survivor’s guilt over a situation where nobody had even died - and she wasn't sure the demoness had meant to go into as much detail as she had.
Now Nene knew most of the ins-and-outs of BF's second traumatic experience in the span of a month, and, well, it felt kind of shitty to have that information and not do anything with it.

Summary
Darnell wasn't sure the first time he actually noticed it, or, rather, the first time someone else noticed and brought it to his attention. He figured he must have been pretty young, considering he couldn't even remember the first time a butterfly decided to land on his chest, or a "nervous" dog walked right up to him to ask for scritches, or a bird sat next to him on a bench. Regardless, animals just seemed to really like Darnell.
This is the first time a stray cat has walked into his apartment, though.
