Captain Spisee handed Jim a heavy sheet of rich, cream paper embossed with gold dusted Vulcan calligraphy bearing the ship’s name. It was a bit cheap by the standards of Vulcan stationary aesthetics, but shipboard life meant some sacrifices. In the most elegant handwriting he’d ever had the privilege to lay eyes on, it read:

Summary
When Jim Kirk moved back home to Iowa and took the ED nurse job recommended by his friend McCoy, he was expecting it to be a calm change of pace from his old urban hospital. Instead, it's the same shit, just with crappier equipment and a smaller staff. His fellow nurses are great, thankfully, and the lab tech on the other end of the phone has a particularly nice voice.
Spock, former Chemistry technical specialist and perpetual night shift lead, prefers to focus on his work without interruption. Constantly calling critical results to the floor is inconvenient, especially when the new ED charge nurse has such a pleasant laugh.
Hospital AU, featuring flirting over the Vocera, needlessly detailed medical jargon, and a disgusting amount of love paid to the lab staff.

“Air and I are on perfectly fine terms.” He self-consciously touches the mouthpiece of his breather, which is in its magnet holster at his hip just like it always has been, to really punctuate what a massive liar he is.

Jim is drowning under a tide of maintenance issues, resource resupply logistics, and oh yes? What else? Starfleet has dumped a new Science Officer on him. Spock Is A Weirdo. A real weirdo. But if they can just make it over the hurdle that is their layover and resupply at Deep Space 13, they’ll be home free to Sol, and a big chunk of credits.
Of course, in space, ‘if’ is a dangerous word. And there’s something strange going on at Sevastopol Station.
