Summary
After the Hound deserts Blackwater, he found his place on the ocean as a sailor. He never much believed in the tales that the other crew members told about sea monsters and mermaids, but he'd heard them all the same. Mermaids were said to be dangerously beautiful, and deadly if you got too close. Yet when the ship catches on fire and sinks, Sandor finds that he doesn't have much of a choice.

Summary
A relatively brief character study inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses - specifically, the story of Pygmalion, a man who carved a statue so beautiful that he fell madly in love with it. This story contains quotes from a translated version of that tale.
Hannibal sees the work of art that waits to be uncovered beneath the layers of fear and doubt which cloud Will's mind. As he subtly works to transform the unstable man into something much greater, he marvels at Will's potential in his dreams.
