It'd started as a joke, more or less.
Your little crush on Michael's father.
You didn't know why it persisted. He was cold, dismississive, downright cruel at times, but somewhere in your fucked little head, that appealed to you. The violence you recognized in his eyes on very reare occasions.
Maybe it was because he was kind to you.
You got little scraps sometimes. Lingering glances and honey-sweet, suggestive undertones when he called you 'dear', the occasional hand on your shoulder or waist if you were lucky, and you prayed you weren't imagining it in your desperation. He was a bone-deep ace you couldn't rid yourself of. You didn't know if you wanted to anymore. You were dependant on the comfort he provided. Michael didn't know you were serious when you joked about it and you didn't intend to tell him.
You knew it wouldn't happen.
Didn't stop you from wanting it, though.
After your parents had kicked you to the curb, Mr. Afton had taken you in with open arms. It hadn't neccesarily helped your feelings towards the older man. Today, it felt like forever ago.
You'd spend your university break with them.
