I thought the ending was a little abrupt and didn't resolve enough of the character arcs, so I started imagining how things would develop for some of the more interesting minor characters. One thing led to another and now I've got this fic in my head.

Summary
It wasn't long after the barrier had been broken and monsters were free once more that they learned of magic's disappearance on the surface. It had gone not long after they had; there had not been a human mage in hundreds of years, and humans now didn't seem capable of acquiring magic from their new monster neighbors.
A shapeshifting human child showing up out of the blue would have been a reason for celebration if she wasn't badly injured and terribly afraid. She latches onto the first monster to show her kindness- a tall and talented skeleton named Papyrus- and now he and his family need to find out what the hell is going on.
