    Summary

Before the argument could reignite, the doors behind them suddenly swung open with a dramatic whoooosh. Particles exploded outward in a shower of Spoke’s signature rainbow headband colours, and all three of them jumped back, weapons halfway drawn.

Spoke stood in the doorway, backlit by the warm glow of light from inside. His grin was wide and genuine, and his eyes had that faint shimmer that happened when he was particularly excited. For a moment, his outline seemed to flicker, like he was barely maintaining his physical form.

"You came!" he exclaimed, throwing his arms wide. "I was starting to think you guys were gonna stand me up!"

The three visitors exchanged glances. Parrot's hand stayed on his sword hilt.

"Spoke," he said carefully, "why exactly did you invite us here?"

"For a sleepover!" Spoke's grin didn't falter. "Come on, don't just stand there! It's cold out and I made snacks!"

Spoke somehow managed to appear behind them, already herding them toward the door. "In, in, in! I spent all day setting this up!"

"That's what I'm worried about," Wemmbu muttered, but he allowed himself to be shepherded forward.

    Summary

Flame didn't look at him. "Yeah, well. Can't have my rival going blind. Wouldn't be fair."

    "Right. Wouldn't be fair."

They both knew it was more than that. Neither of them would ever say it out loud.

But Wemmbu understood now. Flame didn't just want a worthy rival. He wanted Wemmbu specifically. Wanted him around, wanted him healthy, wanted him at his best.

Even if it meant forcing regeneration potions down his throat until his stomach threatened to burst.

"You're still an idiot for dropping that potion though," Flame added after a moment.

"And you're still a jerk for not letting me live it down."

"That's what rivals are for, bro."

Wemmbu's tail flicked, catching Flame's leg and tugging playfully. Flame stumbled, cursing, then shoved Wemmbu's shoulder. They walked like that, trading barbs and shoves, two rivals who cared way more than either would admit.

Behind them, the battlefield smoldered. Ahead, the horizon stretched out clean and new. And between them, unspoken but understood, was the promise that Flame would get his rematch another day.

He owed Flame that much at least.

Both Boosfer and Wemmbu are exhausted after returning from the nether void. And despite Wemmbu saying that taking a nap in FlameFrags's base is probably a bad idea, Boosfer doesn't care.

Flamefrags just wanted a fair rematch, not a injured Wemmbu with a ego bigger than both of them, half-dead and freezing in the snow of winter.
