Summary
You hesitate, trying to think of what to do. You could call out to the man and tell him to stop, but anyone unstable enough to harass people in broad daylight probably won’t respond well to being told what to do.
As you consider your options, you make eye contact with the injured performer through the crowd. You jolt, not expecting it, but your surprise quickly turns to concern at the hollow look in his eyes.
He has the look of someone completely used to this treatment, and if you weren’t decided on whether or not to help him before, you are now.
Maintaining eye contact, you send him a wink that insinuates a confidence you don't have before you hike your bag higher onto your shoulder, take a few steps back, and run full speed towards the man’s back.

You’ve always had a way with animals, for some reason animals of every kind—predetor, prey, or herbivore would become so docile when around you. They would not attack each other while in your presence, it was like you had a calming effect on them for some odd reason. Throughout your childhood you’d be surrounded by them, you didn’t really care nor mind, the animals didn’t bother you so you allowed them to constantly stay near you. Your parents, being the animal suckers they were, always found it adorable—you being surrounded by animals. They always joked that you were secretly a disney prince/princess reincarnated. The jokes were slightly annoying, however, you didn’t mind too much. You weren’t too keen on allowing it all get to you, at least the animals near you could be useful—some birds and cats would bring you small trinkets, more predatory animals would ensure your safety–staying by your side during your late night walks, and not to mention you made numerous attempts to communicate with the animals more so with short commands and signals. You lived in your own world—figuratively speaking—so you never really understood why it was so odd having numerous animals always by you. It was completely normal, wasn’t it?
